ABOUT ME

My lifelong struggle with weight and emotional eating has set me on a path of digging deep into psychology, as well as the mechanics of nutrition and exercise. It was through my darkest moments of not feeling like I was enough that I stumbled upon strategies that have helped me feel good about myself. Along the way, I have learned that punishing my body with unrealistic diets and extreme exercise not only made me unhappy but was actually detrimental to my health. It was when I finally approached the process with love, respect, kindness and joy, that my body responded and the benefits that go far beyond physical. I am more excited about life, have emotional stability, freedom around food and have much more confidence which feels amazing.

MY DETRIMENTAL DIET CYCLE

For over 20 years, I was on a cycle of eating nonfunctional foods, then getting fed up and picking up the latest diet, punishing myself and then feeling guilty for not having a 100% adherence, throwing my hands up and just going back to destructive eating.

I knew I was smart enough to know better yet I have repeated this cycle for decades. The all or nothing approach, always focusing on the food that went into my body and the amount of punishing exercise I was doing to combat the calories I was taking in. It felt so restrictive and punishing to my body and self-esteem.

It’s not until I looked at my eating in a more holistic way, the way I perceived myself, my long held conscious and unconscious beliefs and the stories I was telling myself, that things began to change for the better. d.

THE TRANSFORMATION

I began to let go of thoughts like “I’m either perfect or I just give up and eat anything and everything I want” or “I am not one of those people that can have just a bite or two of something sweet, I have to have the whole thing”. Turns out, neither of those are true. What worked for me is looking at the reasons I eat (or overeat) non functional food as well as ways of coming up with simple, tiny daily habits that would help me look and feel healthier.

What I found is that it’s actually easier than I thought. I didn’t have to swear off desserts forever or be perfect, I just needed to find balance that would allow me to be my greatest self and maintain a sense of freedom around food.

If you can relate to any of this, I would love to help. I would love to “hold” your hand along the way and see how we can personalize this journey for you so that you are feeling and looking fantastic.
